DJI Zenmuse L3 Long-Range LiDAR System with Highest Accuracy
The DJI Zenmuse L3 is a state-of-the-art, next-generation aerial LiDAR system delivering exceptional range and accuracy. Its 1535 nm LiDAR sensor reaches up to 950 meters even on targets with only 10% reflectivity. Dual 100-megapixel RGB mapping cameras and a high-precision Position and Orientation System (POS) accelerate geospatial data acquisition, enabling daily coverage of up to 100 km².
1535 nm Long-Range LiDAR: Extended Range, Broad Coverage
The Zenmuse L3 achieves a maximum detection range of 950 meters at 100 kHz pulse frequency under 100 klx ambient light and 10% reflectivity. The adjustable pulse frequency provides flexible power output, optimizing performance for various operational scenarios. Typical flight altitudes between 300 and 500 meters increase coverage per flight and significantly improve mapping efficiency.
Small Measurement Point, High Pulse Energy
With a laser beam divergence of only 0.25 mrad (1/e²), the laser footprint diameter at distance is about one-fifth that of the Zenmuse L2. This enables clear detection of smaller objects such as power lines or branches. The higher energy density improves penetration, increases ground point density, and allows precise reconstruction of complex terrain.
High Pulse Repetition Rate, Multiple Returns
With up to 2 million pulses per second and support for up to 16 returns, the Zenmuse L3 delivers accurate 3D spatial reconstructions. Point density and penetration level can be flexibly adapted to meet specific application requirements.
Flexible Scanning Modes
The system supports linear, star-shaped, and non-repetitive scanning modes for various applications:
· Linear: uniform point cloud distribution for precise terrain modeling
· Star-shaped: balances accuracy with high penetration, ideal for forests or urban areas
· Non-repetitive: wide scan angle and extensive coverage, optimized for powerline and structural inspections
Dual 100 MP RGB Camera System
Equipped with two 100 MP 4/3 CMOS sensors and mechanical shutters, the L3 significantly improves accuracy and efficiency. Pixel binning supports an effective resolution of 25 MP with larger pixels, ensuring vivid colors even in low-light conditions.
107° Ultra-Wide Field of View
The dual RGB cameras offer up to 107° horizontal field of view, capturing a larger area per image. Even with 20% LiDAR overlap, digital orthophoto maps (DOM) and digital elevation models (DEM) can be acquired simultaneously in a single flight, greatly boosting productivity.
Accuracy Meets Efficiency
The enhanced Position and Orientation System (POS) achieves post-processing accuracy of 0.02° yaw and 0.01° pitch. The LiDAR offers ranging repeatability of 5 mm at 150 m and microsecond timing for highly precise results. Vertical accuracy is under 3 cm at 120 m altitude, under 5 cm at 300 m, and under 10 cm at 500 m suitable for mapping scales from 1:500 to 1:2000. With a ground sample distance (GSD) of 3 cm at 300 m altitude, the L3 enables precise mapping even without ground control points (GCP).
High Point Density, Strong Penetration & High Efficiency
Thanks to smaller laser footprints and higher pulse energy, the L3 captures significantly more ground points beneath vegetation, enhancing detail, accuracy, and model completeness. Combined with the DJI Matrice 400, the Zenmuse L3 covers up to 10 km² per flight and up to 100 km² daily. Multiple data types, such as point clouds, orthophotos, and 3D models, can be collected in a single mission.
DJI Terra Integration: PPK, LiDAR Gaussian Splatting & Fusion-Based Modeling
DJI Terra provides integrated PPK (Post-Processed Kinematic) data processing for centimeter-level positioning accuracy, even without RTK availability. The software supports local PPK processing for RGB imagery and LiDAR data. Advanced Gaussian Splatting technology produces highly detailed and realistic 3D models. Fusion of LiDAR and RGB data in a single dataset enables simultaneous generation of high-accuracy point clouds, 2D maps, and 3D mesh models. This data fusion approach improves model completeness, especially for complex structures, meeting the needs of energy, transportation, and infrastructure sectors.
Integrated End-to-End Solution
The L3 works seamlessly within the DJI ecosystem from data capture and PPK post-processing in DJI Terra to cloud analysis in DJI FlightHub 2. Real-time point cloud previews, live measurements, and flexible split-screen views increase mission efficiency and safety.
Secure Data Processing
CFexpress card encryption and AES-256 video transmission encryption protect sensitive data. The Matrice 400 also supports one-click log clearing for added security.
Typical Applications
Topographic surveying, civil and geotechnical engineering, geological studies and hazard mapping, forestry and vegetation analysis, energy and powerline inspections, mining and infrastructure surveying.
Please note: The DJI Zenmuse L3 is only compatible with the DJI Matrice 400 due to the payload weight of 1.6 kg, the new gimbal bracket with anti-drop gimbal rails, and the higher power consumption of the 1535 nm laser.

The EMLID Reach RS4 Pro is an all-band RTK GNSS receiver with dual cameras for visual stakeout and remote point capture for faster and safer work. It also features tilt compensation (IMU) that maintains ultimate precision even in challenging conditions and under dense tree canopies. It offers RTK accuracy of 7 mm + 1 ppm, and with tilt compensation achieves 2 mm + 0.3 mm/° precision. Operating as both base and rover, it supports 915 MHz LoRa and 450 MHz UHF NTRIP communication.
Powered by a Li_Ion battery, the RS4 Pro runs up to 16 hours on a single charge, with USB Type_C charging available. Its magnesium alloy body, IP68 dust_ and waterproof rating, and wide operating temperature range from _40 °C to +65 °C make it ideal for harsh field conditions.
Discover the new way to survey with dual cameras
The Reach RS4 Pro introduces a new way to survey with its dual Full HD cameras, extending capabilities beyond traditional RTK. Stakeout is faster and more intuitive with AR guidance, as your design is overlaid directly on the real world, showing exactly where to place stakes rather than just following a map. Features like dynamic navigation, auto bullseye view, cut & fill indicators, and quick point switching help crews work more efficiently, even on complex construction sites and roadworks.
The RS4 Pro also enables measurement from images, allowing you to capture data from locations where you cannot place the survey pole. Building facades, areas behind fences, across busy roads, over water, past hedges, above pits, and around machinery can all be measured without physical access. This eliminates the need to set up a total station for such tasks and helps avoid hazardous areas.
Unmatched Precision
With 672 channels, the EMLID Reach RS4 Pro can track 40+ satellites at a time from all major constellations (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS, and NavIC). With support for L1, L2, and the lower L5 and L6 band frequencies, it ensures strong multipath resistance and reliable signal reception. The Reach RS4 Pro thus delivers reliable performance and centimeter-level accuracy with 7 mm + 1 ppm precision in RTK mode. The receiver achieves a fixed RTK solution in less than 5 seconds, providing fast and dependable positioning in the field.
Next-gen tilt compensation
The Reach RS4 Pro comes factory_calibrated, ensuring instant readiness with no need for field adjustments. Its tilt compensation works reliably under all conditions and is immune to magnetic interference, maintaining accuracy even near metal objects. With faster initialisation and no angle limit, it provides precise measurements even at steep tilts. The compensation mechanism activates with just a few moves and remains stable throughout the survey, saving time and avoiding the need for recalibration.
Base and rover connectivity
The Reach RS4 Pro can operate as both base and rover, supporting RTK work with VRS or a single baseline CORS network in RTCM3 format. You can also connect another GNSS receiver as an NTRIP base using EMLID NTRIP Caster. It features a dual_band radio system:
· UHF 450 MHz for transmit and receive, with up to 2 W output (may require a license), compatible with Reach and 3rd_party receivers that support TRIMTALK 450S.
· LoRa 915 MHz for transmit and receive, with up to 1 W output (license_free in North America), compatible with Reach receivers.
Engineered for the harshest environments
The Reach RS4 Pro's magnesium alloy body is both light and exceptionally durable, similar to materials used in aerospace and high-end electronics. This combination ensures strength and ease of handling, even in the toughest environments. With up to 16 hours of continuous operation on a single charge, the RS4 Pro is designed for long field days. It can be recharged via USB-C or powered by a portable power bank for added flexibility.
