A Customer Success Story The Journey of Gerüstbau Kaiser with Epotronic & Inscout

Company Profile
Theodor Kaiser Gerüstbau GmbH (www.geruestbau-kaiser.de) is a renowned company in the Neuss, Düsseldorf, and Cologne region and surrounding areas, with decades of experience in the timely and professional execution of complex scaffolding projects for demanding construction sites. Structures beyond standard execution are developed by an experienced team of engineers and specialists.

Growing requirements for construction site logistics, occupational safety, and digital documentation presented the company with new challenges. An innovative, technology-based solution was required to make processes more efficient and minimize sources of error. Within the group, Inscout GmbH (formerly Megaposter GmbH) (www.inscout.eu) was commissioned to develop new processes.

Specific Problems
Solutions
Through collaboration with Inscout, an advanced digital solution was developed that enables precise planning and efficient implementation. The use of modern surveying equipment and UAV technology enables detailed capture of the construction site environment.
It started with the "exploration" of modern disruptive sensors such as the Matterport Pro 2 and later the Matterport Pro 3 camera. Inscout expanded its drone portfolio with a DJI Phantom 4 RTK. Training in the proper use of the drone and subsequent processing and evaluation of the collected data was provided by Epotronic GmbH.
The 3D models obtained photogrammetrically with DJI Terra can be directly integrated into the company's existing planning software, making scaffolding planning almost automated at the click of a mouse. In the meantime, a DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise and a DJI Matrice 300 with a Zenmuse L1 LiDAR module (Light Detection and Ranging) are also used. The core solution components include for example:
-
●
Photogrammetric and LiDAR-based surveying:
Using drones and sensors, including those from Epotronic, an exact 3D model of the buildings was created. This enabled professional planning and reduction of sources of error. -
●
Virtual scaffolding planning:
Based on the captured point clouds, the scaffolding was digitally modeled and integrated into the real environment. This made it possible to determine the optimal scaffolding layout in advance. -
●
Automated documentation and compliance management:
Digital protocols ensured seamless recording of safety standards and compliance with legal requirements. -
●
Real-time material tracking:
An intelligent tracking system enabled seamless monitoring of material movements and reduced inefficient storage.
Results
- ● Reduction of assembly time by 30% to 60% through optimized planning and digital simulations
- ● Increased safety on the construction site through standardized and verifiable safety measures
- ● Time savings through automation: Fewer manual processes in planning and documentation
- ● Improved material management and lower costs through more efficient logistics
Conclusion & Outlook

A forward-looking investment in technology and motivated employees should give the company decisive competitive advantages. Thanks to the dedicated support and extensive expertise of Christian Wekking and his team, as well as strong backing from management, Inscout has succeeded in significantly meeting the digitalization needs of scaffolding. Theodor Kaiser Gerüstbau GmbH can thus position itself as a digital pioneer in an apparently not very digital industry, providing its customers with significant added value.
By using the latest technology provided by Epotronic, not only was efficiency increased, but also work safety and sustainability improved. The successful implementation of this project shows that the use of UAV-based surveying, modern sensors and digital planning solutions will sustainably shape the future of scaffolding.
