Das M300 V3 Firmware Update is here

The latest firmware update provides big updates to security, privacy, and performance. Read below to find out more.

M300 RTK

In the year and a half since the M300 was released, it has pushed the boundaries of what is possible with a drone platform, with unparalleled flight time, safety features, (almost) all weather usability, compatibility with ground-breaking sensors, making it an industry standard in surveying, inspection, mapping and much more.

Based on user feedback, firmware updates are regularly made to ensure the solutions remains at the forefront of the industry. Following previous updates in August 2020 and January 2021, the latest version is now here. Here are some key components of the update.

Data Security and Privacy

Multiple new features provide enhanced data security and privacy, an important factor for many customers.

Offline Updates

After the V3 update, firmware updates can be made offline by downloading the firmware packages from the DJI website, and saving to an external storage device, which can be later inserted into the device.

Log Clearing

Internal flight logs can be deleted from the drone and remote controller, to prevent possible data leaks.

SD card encryption

Again, to prevent possible data leaks if the drone is lost, SD card encryption can be enabled, which requires a password to be entered everytime the drone is tuned on. In addition, to view the data from the SD card, the DJI Decrypt Tool is required, which also requires a password.

Network Security Mode

These modes determine whether, or how much the drone connects to the network.

  • Standard mode: no restrctions
  • Restricted Data mode: Only network connection for maps, RTK, and livestreaming.
  • Local data mode: No network connection, like 'airplane mode'.

DJI Pilot Enhancements

See the new features of DJI Pilot, improving the user experience and increasing its capabilities.

Improved collision warning

Collision warnings with other aircraft now consider altitude differences, reducing the number of false alarms.

Maintenance and Care Enterprise Information

In the Health Management System, you can now see the status of the drone's maintenance: total flight hours, when maintenance service is due, and you can purchase a maintenance programme. Care Enterprise packages are also available to purchase, and repairs can be requested.

Battery logs

Battery and battery station logs and error records are available.

More languages

French, Russian, Korean and Turkish are now available as languages for the app.

Beeping of the remote controller can be disabled

H20 PinPoints

PinPoints are a feature of the H20 payload, which allows points to be recorded (with coordinates) with use of the H20's rangefinder. Now multiple PinPoints can be stored and edited, and shown on the Pilot screen. They can also be set as home points.

O/PSDK interactive optimization

Take off in an authorization zone

Flight Optimization

A series of features improving the capabilities and control of the M300 in the air.

Manual flight checklist optimization

A new and improved pre-flight checklist screen appears, ensuring that all settings are set correctly.

Weak signal warning added

Coordinated turn

With this option enabled, during a turn manoeuvre, the head of the drone will always face towards the direction of travel.

RTK in the air

In areas with unstable RTK service, you can now take-off without RTK connection, and connect to RTK in the air, where there may be better service.

Maximum altitude

The maximum altitude has been increased from 500 m to 1500 m.

Return to Home (RTH) updates

RTH can now be exited by flicking the control stick. Obstacle warnings during RTH will also appear, giving you time to take manual control.

Payload Enhancement

New features for the payloads H20, L1 and P1.

H20 Panoramic mode

The H20 can now take multiple photos in one position to create a panoramic view, perfect to give a good overview of the scene.

L1 calibration

A new IMU calibration flight is available for the L1. This consists of the drone accelerating and decelerating in a straight line. This method is more time efficient than the previous figure 8 calibration.

Calibrations are automatically incorporated into the flight plan to take place every 100 seconds, ensuring high quality results. This works for 2D and waypoint mapping.

P1 offset

The offset of the P1 has been improved, improving the vertical accuracy of the results.

RTK for P1 DNG images

DNG (raw) images can now be captured with RTK data.

Bug fixes

A couple of bug fixes have also been issued.

When drawing a flight plan for 2D mapping, the flight plan will more closely follow the boundaries of the drawn area, for example, when it is a more complex shape.

When the margin of the flight plan is set to zero, the route will now stick strictly to the drawn area.

How to Update

Users can update the firmware of their M300, remote controller, batteries and battery station with the DJI Pilot app. The drone, remote controller and D-RTK 2 can also be updated with DJI Assistant for Matrice: a downloadable app available on PCs. See the below video for more detail:
